InnoMedia Delivers HD Voice to Cable Operators
Milpitas, CA – December 13, 2011 – InnoMedia, the leader in innovative business voice solutions, today announced that it has significantly enhanced its successful EMTA 9528-4B product with the introduction of HD (High Definition) Voice. This highly integrated and powerful 4 voice port EMTA already boasts industry-leading features such as DOCSIS 3.0 support, internal backup battery and a gigabit LAN port. The embedded DOCSIS 3.0 cable modem delivers 8×4 downstream/upstream channel bonding and up to 24 UGS SIDs. This allows end users to benefit from around 300 Mbps downstream and >100 Mbps upstream data rates.
With the addition of HD voice capability, InnoMedia has facilitated Cable MSO’s in delivering unprecedented voice clarity and intelligibility to their end customers. Traditional telephone connections are hampered by the inherent bandwidth limitation of the PSTN network to a 300-3400 Hz range of frequencies. HD Voice removes this restriction and broadens the frequency range up to 7000 Hz, thereby providing a richer quality of sound with a user experience similar to that of FM radio. Not only does this aid intelligibility, it also ensures less listener strain during longer conversations. The InnoMedia EMTA 9528-4B achieves an assured HD voice capability through the use of a Wideband SLIC together with high quality wideband speech coders such as G.722.
“We are very excited to have delivered HD Voice on our flagship MTA product, the EMTA 9528-4B”, stated Shailesh Patel, Sr. Director, Product Management at InnoMedia. “As well as integrated DOCSIS 3.0 support, this device has the ability to group the 8 downstream channels into 2 separate banks, with each bank having a high degree of frequency agility as each bank can be placed anywhere in the downstream DOCSIS frequency range. This gives cable operators unprecedented flexibility in planning their channel allocations. Bringing together these capabilities with a rich set of telephony business features including ground/loop start and OSI for business PBX’s, foreign voltage detection and T.38 fax support, the EMTA 9528-4B offers MSO’s the ability to deliver the highest quality telephony and broadband services to their customers in a way that significantly differentiates their offering from the incumbent telco operator.”
In addition to EMTA devices, InnoMedia also offers a comprehensive suite of VoIP products including Enterprise SIP Gateways (ESGs), Ethernet-based ATAs, IP PBXs, IP Phones, and a complementary Element Management System (EMS) for provisioning and managing the entire portfolio of InnoMedia products.
