GVSP
Next Generation Carrier-Class CPE Device Management System
The GVSP solution is a scalable and reliable carrier-class CPE management system for voice and video over IP devices and services. It consists of three key components: GVSP Server, Device Auto-Provisioning System (VSP-5000), and Device Management System (DMS). It enables service activation to be plug-and-play, device management and customer support to be reliable and controllable, and allows service providers to launch large scale service deployments in a hierarchical and geographically manner. The solution is highly available and scalable, and provides device provisioning and management functionality throughout the device deployment life cycle.
KEY BENEFITS
Complete device provisioning and management functionality throughout the device deployment cycle
Hierarchical and geographical management, allowing large scale service deployments in a staged and controlled manner
Highly scalable and reliable, allowing continued deployment expansion
Supports devices deployed behind NAT/firewall routers
FEATURES
Total CPE Management Solution
The GVSP solution offers a complete CPE management functionality including device auto-provisioning for plug-and-play service deployment, reliable remote device management with element management functionality as well as remote device access, and an integrated flow of CPE activation for seamless and large scale service launch.
Highly-Scalable & Redundant Architecture
The GVSP solution employs two levels of scalability designs: A system-level scalability allows service providers to partition service deployments in a regional and/or hierarchical manner, and a server-level load balancing architecture allowing the servers to be highly scalable. Similarly, the GVSP solution provides two levels of redundancy: On the system-level, the GVSP re-direct functions allows any failed CPE request in provisioning or device management to be redirected other servers, and on the server-level, the servers are built on a pair of dual, redundant servers with shared RAID storage. Thus in the event of a hardware failure, the services are migrated seamlessly to the backup node with a minimum of downtime, typically less than a minute.
Backend OSS Interface-Ready
The GVSP solution has a well defined SOAP interface for easy OSS integration via the GVSP Server. Additionally, all servers (GVSP, VSP-5000, and DMS) communicate with one another via SOAP interfaces, allowing service expansion or customization.
Geographical Partitioning for Regional Staged Deployment
The GVSP solution enables the servers to be assigned logically or physically in a regional and geographical manner. The CPE devices are automatically redirected to their respective regional servers for provisioning and management. The integrated hierarchical classification allows service deployments to be staged and scaled as necessary.
Firewall Friendly
The GVSP solution is firewall friendly. It can provision and manage devices deployed behind NAT/firewalls. All the device management utilities, native (Telnet or Web) or remote (SNMP), are preserved in the presence of customer premises firewalls.
TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS
Integrated CPE Management Solution
The GVSP solution presents an integrated and unified CPE device management solution encompassing device auto-provisioning for device configuration and firmware upgrade, device management using EMS’s event, alarm, and fault management, or direct access to remote devices’ native management interfaces such as Telnet and Web GUI. The GVSP Server presents a unified UI as the CPE management entry point, and addresses the complete life cycle of CPE management in a voice and video over IP service deployment.

Hierarchical and Regional Partitioning with GVSP Redirect
The GVSP Solution allows service providers to partition and construct their service deployments in hierarchical and regional manner for staged service launches. Furthermore, the GVSP Server’s redirect feature allows the devices to be directed to their appropriate regions for management. This redirect function provides a unified device entry point, allowing regional deployments to take place seamlessly, and offers a system level fail-over mechanism as the devices will go back to the GVSP Server when its associated CPE management servers fail to respond in a timely manner.

Unified OSS Interface
The GVSP Server has a well defined SOAP interface which allows easy OSS integration of all the Servers in the GVSP solution. The SOAP interface provides various region, server, and device management commands:
1. Region:
a. getregion()
b. setregion()
c. deleteregion()
2. Server:
a. Getserver()
b. Setserver()
c. Deleteserver()
3. Device:
a. Getdevice()
b. setdevice()
c. deletedevice()
