INNOMEDIA PARTNERS WITH TATANET
TO TAP INTO BURGEONING INDIA IP MARKET
Business Partnership Created in Anticipation
of Internet Telephony Deregulation in India on April 2002
Singapore
and San Jose, CA
- October 15, 2001 -
InnoMedia, a leading supplier of Internet and broadband access IP
telephony solutions, together with SIIX Singapore, a business support provider,
today announced that they have entered into a partnership with TATANET,
a division of a TATA company called NELCO Ltd. This exclusive partnership
creates an experienced team focused on harnessing the power of the Internet
to deliver next generation IP telephony solutions to customers in India.
TATANET manages and
operates the largest private CUG (close user group) VSAT network in India,
providing Wide Area Networking solutions for the TATA group. Leveraging
on its extensive experience in network management and system integration,
TATANET will manage and integrate InnoMedias leading edge IP communication
solutions for the India market. SIIX will provide logistical support and
business coordination.
"We are excited to collaborate with TATANET to integrate our value-added
solutions and services to a high growth market such as India," said
Mr. Kai-Wa Ng, co-founder and chief executive officer of InnoMedia. "The
combination of InnoMedias IP telephony technology and solutions
with TATANETs expertise in network management, system integration,
and customer focus, constitutes TATANET as the ideal business partner
for us to expand the reach of our solutions and services in the India
market," he added.
InnoMedia offers a portfolio of award-winning IP telephony solutions and
services for enterprises, home offices, and consumers. These include:
the InnoMedia IP VideoPhone; InfoGate 3000 series of VoIP gateways;
InfoTalk® standalone VoIP appliances; InfoAccel family of VoIP
PC devices; and BuddyTalk, a 4-in-1 VoIP PC client that includes
multi-party conferencing. All InnoMedia VoIP clients can also call any
phone in the world at low destination-based rates using InnoSphere,
InnoMedias global IP termination network.
In the area of broadband access IP telephony, InnoMedia offers the MTA
3300, a next generation Multimedia Terminal Adapter designed for broadband
service providers looking to deploy telephony services with superior calling
features and voice quality equivalent to PSTN. InnoMedia also delivers
solutions for OEM partners, including the Creative VoIP Blaster,
an OEM version of InfoAccel USB.
"TATANET is excited to team with InnoMedia, the technology leader
in delivering high quality voice and video solutions over IP," said
Mr. Zal Engineer, executive director of TATANET. "Through this partnership,
we are able to jointly offer customers a wide variety of innovative solutions
and differentiated value-added applications to fulfill their emerging
needs," he added.
The accelerated pace of the telecommunication liberalization has been
evident in the recent moves by the government of India. In August 2000,
the Indian government announced its decision to liberalize the private
long distance market. This was followed by its move to legalize Internet
Telephony beginning April 1, 2002, two years ahead of the commitment made
by India to the World Trade Organization.
