Interoperability and multi-party videoconferencing
capabilities open door for mass Singapore and San Jose, CA - July 24, 2001 - InnoMedia, a leading supplier of Internet telephony appliances, business solutions and services, today announced the immediate availability of its version two software upgrade for its award-winning IP VideoPhone. This release offers improved audio and video and allows for interoperability and multi-party videoconferencing. This new level of interoperability makes the InnoMedia IP VideoPhone the ideal add-on for any business environment that has made the investment in a room-based conferencing system. The InnoMedia IP VideoPhone can easily interoperate with: Polycom's ViewStation, ViaVideo and PictureTel; Microsoft's NetMeeting; CuSeeMe's 5.0 client and MCU server; plus Cisco and Ezenia! gateways and gatekeepers. This interoperability helps improve inter-company communication while reducing travel, overhead and time out of the office. The IP VideoPhone supports MCU operations, which enable group videoconferencing with a variety of endpoints. This allows InnoMedia IP VideoPhone users to maintain a private conferencing environment while reducing their operating costs and improving productivity. Corporations and service providers can now enjoy a highly scalable and user-friendly way of making visual collaboration easier. "Our software upgrade positions the IP VideoPhone as the most versatile product in the market. The interoperability, multi-party videoconferencing and portability of the IP VideoPhone creates the ultimate solution for corporations and services providers as it improves efficiency through real-time collaboration and ease of use," said Alex Chua, director of product management for InnoMedia. "The InnoMedia IP VideoPhone, offers simplicity and flexibility not previously experienced with room-based systems, thus users are less intimidated and can set it up themselves without needing a specialist to help them." The expanded features include an auto-answer option, adjustable bandwidth support from as low as 32 kbps up to 128 kbps, which allow for improved audio and video quality, and a network status indicator showing the user the status of the network connection. The IP VideoPhone can be configured and upgraded remotely via a web browser from any PC on the network. InnoMedia first announced its compact all-in-one desktop IP VideoPhone last year, which marked a first in the industry. The IP VideoPhone takes the complexity out of videoconferencing as it allows users to make toll-free person-to-person video calls over a quality of service broadband connection. This plug-and-play system is especially convenient and cost-effective for companies with multi-national offices, enabling staff to benefit from high quality face-to-face video communication without necessitating a PC. The portability of the IP VideoPhone also allows the unit to be easily transported from an office to a conference room, home or hotel. The InnoMedia IP VideoPhone has recently been awarded the "Cool Customer Design" by Wind River Systems, Inc., and was also recognized as "Best of Show" at the INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO 2001. InnoMedia's IP VideoPhone is available for OEM partners and resellers. For sales, OEM and reseller inquiries please contact Richard Medugno, sales manager at 408/432-5413 or rmedugno@innomedia.com.
