Enhanced Features
add Management and Industry Leading Interoperability to Extend Gateway
Reach today announced availability of InfoGate Internet Telephony Gateway 2.0. The newest version of InnoMedia's InfoGate Voice-over-IP solution offers new features that expand the unit's manageability and extend Internet Voice-over-IP (VoIP) calling to even the most remote locations. Support for H.323 Version 2.0 assures future compatibility with upcoming H.323 V2.0-compliant VoIP gateways. InfoGate 2.0 offers the industry's most complete client interoperability, expanding the cost savings ability of Internet telephony to remote locations where gateways are not yet installed. InfoGate 2.0 is completely interoperable with InnoMedia's award-winning InfoTalk Internet telephony appliance, and popular PC-based Internet phone appliances and software products including EZphone and MediaRing respectively. Users of InfoTalk and other compatible client products can now have their calls routed to standard telephones in areas serviced by InfoGate gateways creating new value for both the consumer and the gateway operator. Also new with InfoGate 2.0 is a comprehensive SNMP agent that allows network administrators to use third party network management software such as Computer Associates' Unicenter TNG Framework to access vital system information at remote gateway and gatekeeper locations. "InfoGate opened voice-over-IP to a new segment of customer by delivering an affordable, reliable, and scalable solution that stood out in addressing the needs of the VoIP industry," commented Dr. Nan-Sheng Lin, president of InnoMedia, Inc. "The interoperability of InfoGate Version 2.0 with InfoTalk and other H.323 Internet software products will further streamline the penetration of phone-to-phone Internet telephony, helping make the Internet a truly global telephony medium." InfoGate 2.0 is expected to be available in May of this year through InnoMedia's worldwide distribution channel. About InfoGate InfoGate is an innovative voice-over-IP solution that seamlessly routes long-distance calls placed from ordinary telephones over the Internet or a dedicated IP network. InfoGate consists of a four-port analog card, and Gateway and GateKeeper software. Designed to speed the proliferation of next-generation telcos, gateway services, and other Voice-Over IP (VoIP) services, InfoGate is engineered to provide unexcelled voice quality, system reliability, and scalability. Other advanced features include a centralized gatekeeper, dynamic bandwidth allocation and an integrated voice response system (VRS) help system. The scalable solution enables growing companies to cost effectively adopt VoIP technology, and then "ramp up" as their success spurs new investment capabilities. By establishing a network of InfoGate systems in locations where companies have large concentrations of employees, customers, or clients, phone-to-phone connections can be made between locations via local calls at each end, using the Internet or a company's intranet as the long distance carrier. Users can make calls from any home, office, or car telephone by entering a personal identification number (PIN) and password, then dialing the desired long distance number.
