INNOMEDIA INTRODUCES USB DEVICE FOR PORTABLE VOICE-OVER-IP

Plug-and-Play InfoAccel™ USB Enables Users to Place IP Telephone Calls and Surf the Internet Simultaneously

Internet Telephony Conference & Expo, San Diego, CA — October 5, 2000 — InnoMedia™, a leading supplier of Voice-over-IP (VoIP) appliances, business solutions and services, today announced InfoAccel USB, a unique, portable, hot-swappable device for Internet telephony. The latest addition to the award-winning InnoMedia family of VoIP products, the plug-and-play InfoAccel USB simply connects to the USB port on a laptop or PC, providing the convenience and voice quality of conventional telephones, with the cost savings of Internet telephony for the office, home or while traveling.

InfoAccel USB's unique talk-and-surf capability allows users the flexibility and efficiency of placing phone calls over the Internet and browsing the Web simultaneously. The device allows users to maintain their Internet connections and place calls anywhere in the world, or receive calls from other InfoAccel users. In addition, the pocket-sized InfoAccel USB offers advanced features, including a buddy list, voice e-mail, follow-me services and free global roaming, which allows you to be reached anywhere in the world at the same InfoAccel number.

"The future of telecommunications belongs to VoIP, and we are proud to be at the forefront of this revolution," said Kai Wa Ng, CEO and co-founder of InnoMedia. "Our InfoAccel USB device enables users to fully realize the flexibility and cost-efficiency of high-quality IP telephony technology, without the garbled sounds, echoes, or gaps that are typical of software-based VoIP applications."

The InfoAccel USB makes enormous cost-savings possible. Users can place Internet calls free of charge to other InfoAccel users anywhere in the world. In addition, users can call any telephone in the United States and over 200 countries around the world through InnoSphere™, InnoMedia's quality managed global IP telephony termination network for as little as: 2 cents per minute to Hong Kong; 5 cents per minute to the USA and UK; 8 cents per minute to most of Western Europe and 9 cents per minute to Australia and Japan. These rates apply any time of day, there is no monthly service or setup charge.

"We believe that the appliance portion of the VoIP market is emerging as a very important segment, and with the introduction of the InfoAccel USB, InnoMedia further establishes itself as a leader and innovator in this space," said Pete Dailey, partner and global business manager, Frost & Sullivan. "By 2005, we predict that IP phones and appliances will generate $2.2 billion in annual revenue, reflecting 12.8 million units shipped for the year." Based on InnoMedia's advanced patent-pending VoIP technology and powerful on-board Digital Signal Processor (DSP), the device provides a dramatic improvement over conventional Internet telephony solutions. InfoAccel USB brings digital voice quality to the Internet, minimizing the latency and echoes usually associated with VoIP telephony.

The fully standards-based InfoAccel USB is H.323 Version 2.0 (Voice-over-IP), G.723.1 (speech compression) and G.168 (echo cancellation) compliant. Unlike software-based Internet phone applications that use the computer's sound card, the full-duplex audio system allows users to talk and listen at the same time and does not penalize the PC's CPU or memory. InfoAccel USB requires a Pentium-based or equivalent computer, 16 MB RAM, CD-ROM drive, and Windows 98, 2000 or ME.

The InfoAccel USB is available immediately for OEM partners. For sales and OEM inquiries in the USA and Canada, contact Avi Rapaport, vice president of sales, at arapaport@innomedia.com; in Asia and Europe, contact Lim Jew Tim, director of sales, at jewtim_lim@innomedia.com.sg.
