Embedded Cable Modem Modules (ECMMs)
InnoMedia offers four mini-sized DOCSIS 3.0 compliant ECMM products: ECMM9500-BC, ECMM9500-BI, ECMM9500-BCE, and ECMM9500-BIE.  These are the commercial-grade ECMM for North Amerca, Industrial-grade ECMM for North America, commercial-grade ECMM for Europe, and industrial-grade ECMM for Europe respectively.  These ECMMs are readily available to be integrated into devices such as transponders or other monitoring devices that require DOCSIS cable connectivity.

In addition to standard ECMMs, InnoMedia’s in-house RF expertise allows it to be in a unique position to customize the ECMMs to fit particular needs for embedding the module into customer equipment.  This customization may include changes to the ECMM dimensions, the mechanical properties (e.g. connectors), or changes to different RF connector types (e.g. F connector or SMB connector).

ECMM9500BI ECMM9500-BI – The InnoMedia industrial-grade Embedded Cable Modem Module, ECMM9500-BI, is a DOCSIS 3.0 compliant cable modem with full 8×4 channel bonding. It supports Industrial-grade applications with an operational temperature range of -40°C~+85°C.
ECMM9500BI ECMM9500-BC – The InnoMedia commercial-grade Embedded Cable Modem Module, ECMM9500-BC, is a DOCSIS 3.0 compliant cable modem with full 8×4 channel bonding. It supports commercial-grade applications with an operational temperature range of 0°C~+40°C.

Uploaded : EMTA9528-4B_tmb EMTA 9528-4B – A first in the industry, the EMTA 9528-4B is a DOCSIS 3.0, PacketCable 1.5 compliant 4 voice port eMTA with an internal battery and business friendly features targeted to business customers. With 8×4 channel bonding, the EMTA 9528-4B delivers downstream and upstream throughputs of 300 Mbps and 120 Mbps respectively. 32 SIDs allow up to 24 Unsolicited Grant Service (UGS) and 8 Best Effort (BE) service flows.
Uploaded : EMTA9528-2B_tmb-2 EMTA 9528-2B – Equipped with an internal backup battery and a Gigabit LAN port, InnoMedia’s EMTA9528-2B offers feature-rich primary line service targeting residential customers. It supports both PacketCable 1.5 NCS and PacketCable 2.0 protocols on a DOCSIS™ 3.0 ready cable modem with 8×4 downstream/upstream channel bonding delivering downstream and upstream throughputs of 300 Mbps and 120 Mbps respectively.

DOCSIS 2.0/3.0 Cable-Embedded Enterprise Session Border Controllers (ESBCs)

All the cable modem (CM) embedded ESBCs in the InnoMedia ESBC product family support Smart-DQoS™ and employ a unique CM-ESBC synchronization scheme that offers high reliability and minimum down time.

Smart-DQoS
InnoMedia’s exclusive Device-initiated DQoS technology enables edge devices to intelligently initiate and manage DQoS UGS service flows based on user and signaling events without the need for PacketCable Multimedia.  Smart-DQoS™ instantly allows end-to-end QoS without having to wait for network infrastructure modifications. A simplified Smart-DQoS™ signal diagram is given below:

  2. AS → CMTS: Gate-Set
  3. CMTS → AS: Gate-Set-Ack (GateID)
  4. AS → ESBC: Application Signaling (GateID)
    • If GateID is not available → DQoS Lite

    • ESBC → CMTS: DSA (GateID)
    • CMTS → ESBC; DSA Ack (ResourceID)

 

Importance of Smart-DQoS
  • In cable networks where PacketCable Multimedia (PCMM) is not available, Smart-DQoSallows the utilization of DQoS to guarantee QoS-ensured SIP trunking services.
  • In cable networks where PCMM is available, Smart-DQoSmay result in cost saving by not requiring PCMM initiated (thus, license-based) DQoS sessions.

 

CM-ESBC Synchronization
  • Integration of Cable Modem and ESBC into one device allows both components to communicate  →  close coupling yields powerful network architectural advantages
  • Allows ESBC to recover quickly if CM undergoes connectivity issues → minimizes ESBC downtime
  • ESBC will send DHCP DISCOVER after the following CM-related events to ensure CMTS retains ESBC MAC address in its CPE list:
    • ‘Clear Cable Modem Reset’ command from CMTS to CM
    • Loss of RF Sync (with or without T4 timeout)
    • CM Image Upgrade
    • CM Reset (through CLI or SNMP)
  • CM reset will cause soft reboot of ESBC
    • However, ESBC reboot does NOT cause CM to reset

 

esbc8528_tmb ESBC8528-4B – is the ideal demarcation solution to deliver Telephony to Enterprise Customers. It seamlessly enables SIP-based Voice over IP by resolving traversal and compatibility problems with IP-PBX’s and IP-Phones through existing network firewalls. It makes offering SIP Trunking services a breeze by normalizing SIP traffic between the IP-PBX in the enterprise network and the cable operator by providing SIPConnect adaptation and Low-level SIP Header Manipulation.

With Smart-DQoS™ technology, the ESBC 9528-4B can initiate up to 24 UGS service flows for end-to-end QoS voice communications without PCMM. The unit is equipped with a DOCSIS 3.0 eCM, an eSBC with B2BUA and SIP ALG, 4 FXS ports, and an internal battery.

 

ESBC9378-9380-9578-9580_tmb ESBC9578-4B – Similar to the ESBC9528-4B, ESBC9578-4B is a highly integrated DOCSIS 3.0 CM-based ESBC with 8×4 channel bonding and 24 UGS SIDs for cable operators to deliver SIP trunking, hosted voice, and broadband data to business customers with an IP-PBX and IP-Phones.
